The first BRICS bill released, here’s how it looks.

The first variant of the unique currency of the BRICS association has appeared, as announced by the state television and radio company of Iran.

“The Russian ambassador to South Africa demonstrated the BRICS 100 banknote during a ceremony at the UAE embassy in Pretoria,” it was written on the X platform.

The attached photograph in the message shows the flags of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, as well as the symbols of the states, displayed in a circle at the center of the coin.

It is noted that after the demonstration, the Russian ambassador handed over the banknote to the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The BRICS summit was held in Johannesburg from August 22 to 24. During the event, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that as of January 1, 2024, six more countries would become full members of the association – Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates, as reported by biznisinfo.ba.

At the same time, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva supported the creation of a unified accounting currency for BRICS. He called the “green neocolonialism” of developed countries unacceptable.

Meanwhile, Maxim Chirkov, an associate professor at the Department of Political Economy of the Economic Faculty of the Russian University of Peoples’ Friendship, noted in an interview with “Izvestiya” that it is very beneficial for BRICS member countries to issue their own currency, as it will open up new development opportunities for them.

BRICS is an intergovernmental association founded in June 2006.
